One-Man Strike

by | Nov 22, 2004 | Strikes

You just have to read this to believe it. This 80-employee bargaining unit is on strike. The only catch is that 79 of the employees are still working and are asking for the union to call off the strike – only one member is honoring the picket line. The UFCW is not abandoning the strike (which has already led to the loss of a major customer of the employer and the layoff of 2 union members), however, because they believe that employees want to decertify and switch unions. Gosh, hard to understand why they’d want to do something like that – given the responsive, democratic nature of their current union leadership.
