In a rumored move, President Trump has tapped Crystal S. Carey, partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, for the role of General Counsel of the NLRB, according to a paywalled story from Bloomberg.
Carey brings heavyweight experience to the nomination—an NLRB alum with nearly a decade of experience at the agency and nearly seven years of representing management-side employers at Morgan Lewis, including Amazon, SpaceX, Apple, and Tesla. Her nomination was officially submitted to the Senate HELP Committee, per the Congressional Record.
Carey hasn’t shied away from criticizing the Biden-era Board, recently stating that it sought to “completely eliminate the rights of employers” to speak with employees about unionization.
If confirmed, Carey would cement the Trump administration’s aggressive pivot toward restoring traditional interpretations of labor law and rebalancing the NLRB in favor of employer rights.
