Employee Free Choice Act The Path to Economic Ruin

by | Sep 18, 2008 | Employee Free Choice Act

Finally, some of the conversation in the media regarding the Employee Free Choice Act is starting to move past the simple issue of private vote vs. no private vote, and evaluate the long-term consequences of a bill that would send the rosters of Big Labor dues-payers soaring. Former businessman Bernie Marcus was been referenced before in this blog, and his recent article in the Wall Street Journal provides some depth of historical perspective to the issue.

A tax rate similar to Britain before Margaret Thatcher beat back the unions (75% – yes, 75%!), and a climate that produces no incentive whatsoever to grow, must be understood as the long-term consequence of the type of laws the Unions are fighting to implement, foremost among these the EFCA.

I only hope enough people pay attention before it’s too late!

To borrow a phrase from a past political campaign, that “giant sucking sound” you hear will be American jobs flushing down the toilet, dragging our businesses, and thus our economy, with them.
