Employee Free Choice Act “Language Tips” From SEIU

by | Dec 14, 2009 | Employee Free Choice Act

The Employee Free Choice Act is often referred to as “Orwellian” because its name pretty much contradicts its actual provisions (to be fair, this is a common tactic on both sides of the aisle these days). As you can imagine it can be quite confusing to defend a law that prohibits the NLRB from conducting virtually all union elections by saying it doesn’t eliminate the secret ballot. So here is an interesting internal document that the SEIU produced to help reduce some of the confusion. OK, it doesn’t really reduce confusion, but it is Orwellian.
