It is hard to know what to believe about allegations this outrageous, but reading about conduct like this makes me physically ill. “Consultant X” giving cash in anonymous envelopes to employees trying to oust a union? Negotiating bonus programs intending to not honor them? Not to mention the trumped up terminations and ultimate shuttering of the plant.
Jackson Lewis is a reputable firm and I know a couple of their attorneys personally. I just cannot imagine they’d condone (or keep a client) who they knew was involved in such outrageous misconduct. As they said in the article, after a client ignores its lawyer’s advice and gets its head handed to it, some clients look for someone to blame (and an excuse to avoid their legal fees – heck, some even try to avoid paying their fees after they follow good advice and win). I just hope that is the case here.
Man I’d love to know who “Consultant X” is – that guy or gal should be put out of business permanently. Sad day.
