This is an interesting letter regarding the proper role of video by labor, from two labor educators. The main thrust is to decentralize the development and production of video presentations (focusing less on mainstream media presentations and more on non-television presentations) and to focus video resources on organizing. I agree that this focus could be very effective, especially since the cost of video production has come down so dramatically in the last five years. To me the proper role of the AFL-CIO’s centralized video production facilities would be to collect, archive and distribute video (interviews, stock footage, interest items) to be used in these decentralized facilities.
