by | Dec 4, 2009 | News

The International Association of Machinists failed in its bid for a representation election among AirTran Airways reservations and airport workers because the union did not submit enough signed cards from interested workers, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. According to the AJC report, the National Mediation Board notified AirTran Wednesday that it had dismissed the union’s petition for a representation election because of an “insufficient showing of interest,” the article said. The IAM did not submit signed cards from at least 35% of eligible employees requesting an election, the article said.
