U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson has asked the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to delay enforcing a rule requiring businesses to post notices explaining employees’ rights to unionize. National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons issued a statement after NAM presented oral arguments in its lawsuit against the NLRB. “This posting requirement rule is a perfect snapshot of the way the NLRB has conducted itself in the past year. The overreaching and activist policies inject the Board into the everyday operations of businesses, creating the potential for hostile work environments where there is no existing conflict,” said Timmons. The South Carolina Chamber and the United States Chamber of Commerce filed a lawsuit against the NLRB earlier this year challenging the posting rule. In response to the lawsuit, the NLRB agreed to delay the implementation of the rule until January 31. This January 31 implementation has now been delayed by Judge Jackson’s ruling.
